Scholarships
To assist artistically-talented individuals with their formal education, the Alabama Architectural Foundation's scholarship program provides much needed financial assistance to worthy candidates. The foundation awards scholarships to students in architecture or related design disciplines or in any fields of the visual or performing arts, and who are enrolled in any institution of higher learning in Alabama in the completion stages of a bachelor's degree or in postgraduate work.
A committee consisting of three members of the Board of Directors who are appointed annually by the foundation president select the recipients.
Since 1989, several $1,000 scholarships have been awarded to deserving students at three different institutions in Alabama. The Alabama Architectural Foundation is custodian for the Biggin Memorial Fund of the Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction and Tuskegee Institute's Taylor Loan Fund. Both are student loan funds available to fourth and fifth year students of art or architecture.
Criteria for Scholarship Selection:
* Prior academic performance indicating a grade point average satisfactory to instructors and the committee
* Prior record of activities, awards, recognition in his or her field. Recommendation from other than instructors as to character,
need, etc.
* Committee may require written material from all or from final group of eligible candidates. Personal interviews may be required for a final group of eligible candidates if the committee deems it necessary.
